Summer 2021: Letter from the Director

We hope you all enjoyed a bright holiday season and fresh start to the new year. 2020 reminded us how important it is to lead with gratitude, and so we want to say thank you. We managed to get through last year together, because families remained patient and supportive as we made the difficult decision not to run camp. We are especially grateful for all the families who either made donations to Camp Fort Greene or kept their 2020 registration money in place for the Summer 2021 season.

Even more than money, we’re grateful for your affirming emails and impromptu conversations in the neighborhood. Thank you all for your kind words and much-needed encouragement through this past year. Your validation has been edifying.

The Camp Fort Greene leadership team is looking forward to a fun summer, with an Olympics theme and plenty of opportunities for your campers to learn, grow, and play. We’re also excited because we’ve expanded our program to include middle school campers in 6th , 7th , and 8th grade.

In an ordinary year, we would be reaching out to let you know that summer camp registration will be opening soon; however, 2020 was hardly ordinary, and so 2021 will present a different timetable. As excited as we are to run Camp Fort Greene, we need to wait to receive updated Board of Health protocols related to summer camp operation, incorporate those protocols in our procedures and systems, and confirm that public school buildings will be open and available for use.

We ask that you please remain patient as we work hard to provide your families with the high safety standards you’ve come to expect from Camp Fort Greene. We will remain in communication with you as we reach important milestones in our planning, so you can be updated in a timely fashion.

Wishing us all great health and good times now and through this new year.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any and all questions at info@campfortgreene.com.
Happy Camping!
